Working with men around issues of anxiety, depression, difficult transitions, and various existential issues has been the focus of my work. I believe that therapy is a process, and in that process my job is to help identify your strengths as well as your hurts, to help you process that which is holding you back, and to help develop your passions and path forward. My work is rooted in an existential, humanistic, and depth framework, which is aimed at slowing down and truly understanding the way in which you are experiencing life. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, feelings of meaninglessness, conflict in your relationships, and more, we can work through it all together.

I combine Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with insight oriented psychotherapy. I often assign work for you to do in-between sessions. I sometimes utilize specific exercises to elict emotions and imagery.

I use a down-to-earth approach. Let’s tackle whatever is keeping you from having the life you want to have. Trauma, depression, anxiety, it’s all real. Sometimes you see or experience something so horrific you can’t “unsee” it. And if you could fix it yourself, you would have already. Having over 30 years of experience and gray hair means there isn’t too much I haven’t encountered. I have worked with emergency workers, first responders, ER nurses, doctors, techs, life flight crews, law enforcement and firefighters. PTSD and trauma can mimic and make the symptoms of depression and anxiety worse. If there is something holding you back, let’s figure it out, so you can get back to your life. I conduct sessions both virtually and in-person in Sioux Falls.

You are a rock. You get up every day and handle your responsibilities. Your friends and family depend on you. But lately you don’t feel like yourself. You worry constantly, second guess yourself, and have persistent negative feelings. The people around you may not even realize how much you’re struggling. This is not the way you thought life would be. You aren’t alone. I’m a therapist specializing in men’s mental health, during the postpartum period and beyond. Together we’ll take the time you need to figure out what’s not right and explore new ways to cope. We’ll draw from evidence-based practices to set and work towards goals for mental wellness.

If there’s one thing I hate, it’s boring run-of-the-mill therapy. After completing my clinical training, I quickly realized how much of a letdown therapy is for many first-timers.
I’ve trained with some of the most well-respected clinicians across the country. I genuinely believe most people need only three things to break out of self-limiting patterns: to be understood, to be challenged, and to have a concrete outline of the steps they must take to reach their goals.

I know firsthand how hard it can be to set aside society’s expectations of traditional masculinity and admit that it might be time to ask for help. As men, we are conditioned to try and solve life’s many complexities on our own, but the truth is reaching out for help shows immense strength, not weakness.
Perhaps you found my profile because you are considering therapy, and for that I applaud you. You have taken the first step toward healing and that is an incredible start. Maybe you still feel uncomfortable with the idea of therapy or you found me by accident. In that case, I sincerely look forward to answering your questions about how this could help improve your life as well. Either way, I am glad that you are here.

A passionate traveler, I’ve lived across the U.S. and value cultural understanding. I view therapy as an active process, helping clients gain skills to achieve their goals and ultimately thrive.
