We all get stuck, stumble, and struggle in life but we do better with the right support at the right time. I was born & raised in rural Alberta and grew up playing sports, getting by in school, & working labour intensive jobs (mostly in the oilfield), before and during my University education. I currently work full-time in private practice with a group of experienced psychologists, providing psychotherapy and formal assessment to school aged children, adolescents, & adults, with a specialized focus in traumatic stress, & couples/family therapy (including separated/divorced families). For nearly 10yrs I’ve facilitated a drop-in men’s support group at Momentum Counselling. I am passionate about supporting people to heal, cope, & thrive.

I specialize in the assessment and treatment of adult ADHD and PTSD, and generalize in the treatment of most mental health disorders. I utilize an integrative and transdiagnostic approach to mental health treatment which incorporates a biopsychosocial view of the individual. I enjoy focusing on increasing good health behaviours by understanding the relationship between life experiences, socialization, stress, and current functioning. My goal is to work with the client in making tangible and meaningful life changes as well as gaining a good understanding and perspective into what drives their behaviours, emotions, thoughts, and physiological processes.

Making the decision to ask for help is hard, being a man and asking for help is even harder. The expectations of masculinity have changed- I know I’ve lived it! I am a father, husband, friend and professional who is navigating these expectations-to be a protector and provider, a partner and mentor, an empathetic listener and a high-five celebrator.
My greatest learning is that vulnerability is strength, sharing is courage, and understanding yourself is vital. I will meet you where you are and together, we will figure out what will work for you. I have experience working with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, relationship, career change, divorce/separation, parenting, anger, and trauma (workplace/childhood). Let’s talk.

Men today often encounter many tragic messages of self-blame. Even other therapists can fall into the trap of using negative or shaming language such as the “toxic masculinity” narrative. I abhor and avoid such messages. In contrast, I work from a strengths-based approach that prioritizes dignity and unconditional positive regard. I provide support for many concerns such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, grief, relationship breakdown and divorce, domestic abuse victimization, and more. I work primarily using CBT, ACT, and person-centred modalities.
