Therapists in Newfoundland And Labrador

Mr. Paul McIsaac
Mr. Paul McIsaac
I have been working with adult individuals and couples for over 10 years now. My practice focuses on existential humanistic therapy, compassionate counselling for those suffering grief, loss, pain, and isolation. Ultimately, the main goal is to discover one’s meaning and develop it to build more strength and confidence to achieve other goals. Many of my clients are men suffering depression, some even contemplating suicide. I use cognitive behavioural therapy to assist them in analyzing and coordinating their thoughts, behaviours, and actions into more effective and satisfying lives. I work online and by telephone with Canadian clients in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as the Territories. Remote therapy only.

As a leader in Men’s Mental Health, I often work with clients who feel stuck, depressed, anxious, and who want to feel better, and learn coping strategies. Utilizing a Person-Centred approach along with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused therapy, Motivational Interviewing and an understanding of the mind-body connection, we will get you back to being … you. I follow a holistic approach as I feel our physical health and nutrition have a significant impact on our mental health. I have specialized training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused therapy, Gottman Method for couples, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness, to name a few. I have over 20 years of professional experience as a clinical social worker, and in 2021 completed my Master of Social work in order to further strengthen my ability to help others with their mental health.
Mental Health for men is very important and is often overlooked and downplayed. Like women, men need mental health services and support to help with their own trauma, life changes and challenges. I can help support you in navigating issues such as childhood trauma, postpartum depression, fatherhood, and retirement.
