Therapists in Newfoundland And Labrador

Mr. Paul McIsaac
I have been working with adult individuals and couples for over 10 years now. My practice focuses on existential humanistic therapy, compassionate counselling for those suffering grief, loss, pain, and isolation. Ultimately, the main goal is to discover one’s meaning and develop it to build more strength and confidence to achieve other goals. Many of my clients are men suffering depression, some even contemplating suicide. I use cognitive behavioural therapy to assist them in analyzing and coordinating their thoughts, behaviours, and actions into more effective and satisfying lives. I work online and by telephone with Canadian clients in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as the Territories. Remote therapy only.
Reaching out can be hard – I sure get that. I provide online individual therapy to adults who are located in the provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador, Manitoba and BC. As a leader in Men’s Mental Health, I often work with clients who feel stuck, depressed, anxious, and who want to feel better, and learn coping strategies. Utilizing a Person-Centred approach along with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused therapy, Motivational Interviewing and an understanding of the mind-body connection, we will get you back to being … you. You CAN feel better – let’s get to work.
I provide Virtual/Online individual therapy to adults (18+) who are located in the Provinces of Alberta, Ontario, NS, NFLD and PEI. I often work with clients who feel stuck, depressed, anxious and/or irritable and who want to feel better, learn coping strategies and learn how to be their best self in relationships. I also work with clients who have experienced childhood emotional neglect and feel dissatisfied and disconnected from their lives and relationships. I have 24 years of experience and am trained in various approaches of therapy including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy for Individuals as well as Accelerated Resolution Therapy. Remote therapy only.

I follow a holistic approach as I feel our physical health and nutrition have a significant impact on our mental health. I have specialized training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused therapy, Gottman Method for couples, Motivational Interviewing, and Mindfulness, to name a few. I have over 20 years of professional experience as a clinical social worker, and in 2021 completed my Master of Social work in order to further strengthen my ability to help others with their mental health.
Mental Health for men is very important and is often overlooked and downplayed. Like women, men need mental health services and support to help with their own trauma, life changes and challenges. I can help support you in navigating issues such as childhood trauma, postpartum depression, fatherhood, and retirement.
