I believe curiosity can replace judgment, and this natural curiosity toward people led me into a career in Mental Health, and the creation of my practice in 2019. I’m drawn to modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Solution-Focused Approaches.
In my work, I utilize a therapeutic approach that fosters practical and measurable progress for clients. To create that impact, I draw on over ten years of varied work experience, ranging from community-based treatments to private practice and corporate work. This contributes to a creative and open-minded way of counselling, allowing me to pull from this wide range of experience, as well as my coaching work, and deliver real change for people.

I’m a Family Systems Therapist who has been in practice since 1988. I work with men from a family of origin or a family systems approach. This means, in part, that I think of men and their emotional functioning within a systems framework. I think about how their sense of themselves, and their emotional function has been shaped by the relational dynamic of their friends and family, past and present. This then contributes to emotional health symptoms like depression.

You don’t have to carry this all on your own. I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor offering a space of refuge and belonging for men navigating shame, stress, disconnection, and self-doubt. If you feel stuck in emotional or relational patterns, overwhelmed or shut down inside, longing for connection but unsure how to feel safe in it – you’re not alone.
My practice is grounded in attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, and self-compassion. I work beyond traditional talk therapy by engaging the body and mind to support clients in moving beyond survival patterns into a more connected sense of self. While I support many queer and questioning clients, my practice is open to all men. A free consult is here for you when the time is right.

How do we know what works – and why? I believe that most people can ultimately provide the answers for themselves; however, it may take some exploration. I therefore use strategies that are evidence-based and research-driven, to help clients build resilience and develop effective coping strategies.
A counsellor is someone who is there to provide guidance and support in times of unmanageable stress. While our sessions may draw from various counselling approaches, including CBT, SFBT, and Narrative Therapy, the client ultimately provides the backdrop – and puts in the work – that leads to lasting change.

Many of my clients feel worried that others don’t like them, and are scared to speak up in their relationships. They’ve spent a long time silencing what they really think and feel inside because they’re afraid they’ll be rejected if they share their full selves with others. I help clients understand and change the underlying patterns keeping them stuck. You can build confidence managing emotions, setting boundaries and having more of what you want in relationships. You can accept and even like who you are and have the confidence to make changes in your life that bring satisfaction at work, connection and closeness in relationships, and trust yourself to get through the hard things.

Daniel Prince
Daniel Prince
Daniel Prince of Adaptive Mental Health specializes in working with men who want support with emotional regulation, processing and embodiment practices.
Our clients often feel like they can’t control their own actions, or that the brain is simply a witness to their body’s response. Conversely, we work equally with people who struggle to feel anything in their body, like positive emotions, or otherwise can’t get out of their own head and be present and in the moment.
AMH utilize Somatic Embodiment therapy techniques to help men gain control over their emotions, be better able to connect with themselves and their loved ones and more healthily move towards the goals and pursuits they want in life to feel more connected and fulfilled.

As a registered clinical counsellor, my style has been described as warm, nonjudgmental, and collaborative. I work with men and people of any gender who experience suicidality, addictions, depression, anxiety, relationship struggles, and a range of traumas. I am energized to work alongside folks who seek to live in alignment with their values. I use multiple modalities (ACT, DBT, parts work / IFS, and more) which are empirically supported, trauma-informed and respect your autonomy and choice. Many of my clients navigate disability and chronic pain. In working together, we will support you in building skills and new patterns on your chosen path of growth and change. I currently offer sliding scale/reduced rates.

My approach to counselling depends greatly on you and your experiences. Our work will begin by understanding your story, experiences and the resulting life that you’re living. Through getting to know each other and hearing about your experiences, we will use the information revealed to begin resolving your issues – be it helping you understand existing problems, manage difficult symptoms or adopt healthier ways of living and relating.
I believe the best results come from a strong relationship and a willingness to change and challenge your self. If you feel ready to take these steps, please reach out to see if we’re a good fit to work together. Have a nice day.

I’m a registered clinical counsellor and certified sexologist. A big part of my work is centred around understanding sexuality and relationships, and supporting clients as they move through the challenges that can show up in those parts of their lives.
My therapy style is rooted in being curious, authentic, and collaborative.I see therapy as a shared process, where we work together instead of me prescribing solutions. I use evidence-based approaches while also offering meaningful tools and takeaways you can actually use in your day-to-day life.
