Why Step Up?
Show men they’re not alone and help us create a culture where it’s okay for guys to talk and ask for help.

Step Up For Him is more than a fundraiser. It’s a movement.
We don’t talk about it enough—but we need to.
Many suffer in silence, trapped by outdated expectations of masculinity – to tough things out, keep things to themselves, and not ask for help – and this silence has tragic consequences.
From the outside, things might look fine. But inside, the weight of loneliness, depression, stress, and burnout can be crushing. In male-dominated workplaces especially, pressure to conform to the “man up” mentality creates environments where it’s hard to ask for a hand with things aren’t going well.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. We can change that. We need to step up to show the men in our lives that you’re not alone, I’m here for you.
This isn’t just a men’s issue—it’s a human issue.
When a man struggles with his mental health, the impact ripples outward: to his partner, parents, friends, co-workers, kids. Whether it’s loneliness, stress, anxiety, or depression, we all know someone who has struggled.
Men’s mental health affects relationships, families, workplaces, and communities. When men suffer in silence, we all feel the effects. When men get support, everyone benefits.
And support doesn’t have to be complicated. It can start with a walk, a talk, a message that says: I’m here, you are not alone.
That’s what Step Up For Him is all about—turning movement into momentum for men’s mental health.
HeadsUpGuys is the world’s leading online resource for men’s mental health. Over 10,000 people use it every week—but we have so many more men that we need to reach.
More than 90% of people who die by suicide struggle with their mental health and/or addiction.
Research shows that up to 60% of people who die by suicide suffer from major depression.
