I work from a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach. I believe that you have everything you need to heal within you and lead a more authentic and meaningful life, and my work with you will help bring that out. I use a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) lens. I believe your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours are all interconnected and each one of them impacts and affects the other.
However, I also often use other modalities in my practice based on your individual needs. Some other modalities I use are acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), Gestalt, and observed experiential integration (OEI) level 1.
Regardless of the modalities I use with you in our work together, I place a huge emphasis on getting to know you and your story.

Counselling doesn’t have to be clinical or intimidating — it’s simply a place where you don’t have to carry everything alone. Many men come to therapy not because something is “wrong” with them, but because they’re tired of feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood, or stuck in patterns they can’t seem to shift. I help men make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface — the stress, shutdown, frustration, or emotional numbness that so often goes unnamed.
I also work with couples, particularly around the pressures men experience in relationships when they are expected to be strong, steady, communicative, emotionally available — even when no one taught them how. My approach is grounded, steady, and emotionally safe for clients who don’t usually open up easily.
I am part of the Surrey Vitality Collective team and sessions with me can be booked via text at 855-425-4310.

It’s tough to be a man. I know. I’ve been one all of my life. Whether it be emotional or sexual intimacy issues, depression, anxiety, self-esteem and the over-reliance on career, substances, money or sex, men can get lost in a thousand different ways. For 36 years now I have been counselling men and know this territory inside and out.

When talking is hard, I use a trauma-informed approach and EFT lens to support my clients. I use EMDR, Somatics, EFT and mindfulness in my work along with CBT and DBT so that my male clients are able to feel safe to express their emotions and challenge the stigma around mental health.

My therapeutic approach is grounded in a humanistic, client-centred framework, where compassion, authenticity, and collaboration will guide the work we do together. I integrate evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy to help clients develop insight into their challenges, build emotional resilience, and create change. Above all, I aim to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel genuinely seen, supported, and empowered in their healing.

To best understand and identify the complex patterns involved in our thoughts and behaviours, simply limiting ourselves to labels of perceived symptoms (i.e. diagnoses) misses out on the true human experience. Through a high degree of curiosity, intrigue, and empathy we are able to subvert our own expectations and identify what may otherwise be lying just under the surface. Perhaps the hidden and uncomfortable truths that continue to cause distress.
This is the strength of a curious approach. Not only do we uncover and address the underlying concerns for the benefit and growth of the client (you), but the counsellor is naturally invested by the intrigue and collaborative discoveries being made, by virtue of their own burgeoning curiosity.

I am a counselor and registered personal trainer who can combine mental health counseling with physical well-being. Our sessions will begin around understanding your present environment- what do we want to keep and what can we let go of. Next, what are you willing to try for your future as well as what has happened in your past. I combine my understanding of clinical practice philosophies (CBT, DBT, Narrative Therapy) with Indigenous mental health perspectives and strategies. I believe well-being is a practice. To sustain and nurture this practice does take some practice and help. My role is to hear where you are at, provide alternative perspectives on challenges, and provide potential solutions we can practice.

For over 20 years, I’ve worked with men who carry more than most people will ever see — the weight of responsibility, pressure, loss, and anger that never quite finds a safe place to land. I’ve been in the helping profession since 1994, and my experience spans trauma, addiction, relationship breakdown, first responder burnout and compartmentalization, and the painful aftermath of reacting in ways that don’t reflect who you truly want to be.
Whether you’re working to manage anger, repair trust, or understand the roots of destructive patterns, therapy with me is about accountability without shame and healing without judgment. Together, we’ll work to uncover what’s driving your reactions, strengthen self-control, and help you rebuild from a place of integrity and calm strength.
No judgment. No jargon. Just real conversations that help you get back to yourself.

If you feel like you keep running into the same wall — the same fights, the same stress, the same habits that you promised yourself you’d break — you’re not alone. A lot of men carry the weight silently and think they should “just figure it out” on their own, but that pressure is exactly what keeps everything bottled up.
My work focuses on helping men understand why these patterns keep repeating, and how to get unstuck without shame or judgment. Whether it shows up as stress, anger, anxiety, shutdown, relationship strain, or feeling like you’re not living up to your own potential, there is always something underneath the surface that is asking to be understood. You don’t need to have the perfect words or a polished story — you just need a place where you don’t have to keep pretending everything is fine.
