I am walking along the coast of the UK to raise money for Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and raising awareness for men’s suicide. You can follow along on my Facebook page: My Walk to Rediscovery.

WHAT WAS THE MAJOR TURNING POINT IN YOUR RECOVERY FROM DEPRESSION?

In May 2020, the pressures of life got on top of me and without seeing an end to the daily battles and torment in my mind, I attempted to take my life and almost died. I was resuscitated a number of times and on life support in a coma for three days. If it wasn’t for the quick response and dedication of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight air ambulance and emergency services I wouldn’t be here today.

I’ve decided to take on a mammoth challenge of walking the UK coast. I’m doing this walk as a healing journey, it’s a journey of rediscovery for myself, rediscovering life and people.

WHAT ARE SOME THINGS THAT REALLY HELPED?

  • Walking in nature has helped me on my recovery, being free alongside the elemental sounds of the wilderness. It really puts things into perspective and allows my mind to think positive.
  • Also challenging myself on a daily basis with new ideas and new things, consistently uplifts me and gives me a sense of accomplishment.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHER GUYS FIGHTING DEPRESSION?

Step outside your comfort zone and push yourself.

Find something that you love and keep at it. Even on the hard days, find a way to do it and the hard day will soon turn into a good one, and you begin to realise that you can turn a negative into a positive.

Find inner happiness through whatever it might be that brings you joy.
